NOX COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) - After a suspicious traffic stop late Tuesday in Knox County, the Tennessee Highway Patrol and K-9 Laky were able to uncover a large quantity of marijuana.

A THP trooper made a traffic stop on I-40 in Knox County when he observed signs of distress from the two vehicle occupants in addition to deceptive answers to questions. After backup was called, the driver denied consent to search the vehicle.

K-9 Laky was deployed and picked up on the scent of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Troopers then searched the vehicle and located 10 pounds of marijuana in the trunk.

Valdis Matthews, 37, and Joel Williams, 44, were arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana.

The listed addresses of both were in South Carolina.

Bond is set at $2,000 for both Matthews and Williams. No information on court dates has been provided yet.
