North Knoxville Home, Called 'Drug Haven,' Boarded Up Under State Nuisance Law
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - A judge ordered a North Knoxville home to be padlocked Wednesday afternoon that investigators say was a hub of drug activity.
A home at 3104 Forestdale Avenue was boarded up under the state nuisance law. District Attorney General Charme Allen says police have been called to the home 36 times in the last 14 months, and many of those calls involved a high volume of traffic at the home because people there were selling methamphetamine.
Other calls involved stolen vehicles and the operation of an alleged "chop shop," wanted fugitives and disturbances involving gunfire.
Knoxville Police Department officers served a search warrant at the home in December and found 80 grams of methamphetamine with a street value of around $5,000. They also found five handguns, three rifles, a shotgun, ammunition, body armor and drug distribution paraphernalia.
This is the 57th closure by Allen's office and KPD under the nuisance law.
