Naloxone Used on Two People after North Knoxville Crash
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)- Officers with the Knoxville Police Department say they used the anti-overdose drug Naloxone on both a driver and passenger following a wreck on Broadway on Saturday.
A representative with the Knoxville Police Department identified the driver as Scot Trombley and the passenger as Ruth Morris.
Officials say Trombley was charged with DUI and driving on a revoked license. Trombley was also wanted out of Knox County for burglary. Other charges are pending.
Saturday afternoon, an officer saw a Chevy Malibu speeding on Cecil Avenue, lose control and crash into the parking lot of the BP station on Broadway.
When first responders arrived on the scene, they found Trombley and Morris overdosing on heroine and other narcotics. Officers and first responders gave both of them Naloxone before being pulled from the car.
Officers say heroine, other narcotics and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The investigation is still on-going and charges on the passenger are pending as well.
Naloxone instantly reverses the effects of an opiate-caused overdose. KPD started carrying the drug in September.
