'Drug Den' House in Knoxville Ordered Closed under Nuisance Law
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) - The Knox County District Attorney General's Office is boarding up up a home in the Beaumont neighborhood of North Knoxville that it says is a "haven for drug use and drug distribution" and was also the scene of two overdoses.
According to General Charme Allen's petition, one person overdosed at the home last March but was revived by first responders. Another person overdosed in May and also survived. Both admitted to using drugs in the house.
Police say they have received numerous complaints from citizens about drug activity at the house. They were called there in December for a kidnapping call and said they found a large amount of methamphetamine, LSD, ecstasy, marijuana, handguns, a shotgun, body armor, a security camera system and drug paraphernalia.
This marks the 52nd closure by the district attorney's office and the Knoxville Police Department under the nuisance law.
Residents Stefan Dowlen, Jesus Gonzalez and Charles Edward Dewees are scheduled to appear in court on January 31. They are not the owners of the house, according to court documents, which do not name the owners.
